How to Get Your Significant Other into MMOs

Page [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9]

How does your sweetheart measure up?

The Pushover
She's the kind of girl who happily does all the chores you can't be bothered with. She keeps the place clean, folds and irons your shirts, cooks for you, then happily does the dishes. If this isn't your mother then she's probably a pushover. You never argue with her because she agrees with everything you say. And, most of all, she knows how hard you work all day . playing those MMO's. Completing quests, building-up experience points, and maintaining guilds. It's all very serious stuff. "Life is hard," you growl as she dutifully brings you a beer. If this situation sounds familiar, why not draw out her inner carebear by having her join you on your perilous adventures, a human bot for all of your buffing, healing, and crafting needs.

Your own private Human Shield

Combat in the virtual world is brutal. But survival is more probable if you've got a reliable buffer/healer to tag along with you. You'll play with more efficiency and vigor if your mate can prep you with the right spell before battle and fix you up if you're wounded during one. If she's anything like the type of girl described above, the role of a druid in World of Warcraft or a priest in Everquest II would appeal to the heart of her female instinct, to stand by her man.

She's Getting Crafty
To get her into the game, you've decided to share a single character until she knows what the heck she's doing. Both of you are now responsible for your new PC, but how do you divide the labor? Like any master, start your apprentice off simple, with something like crafting. For you, it's an exercise in sheer tedium. For her, it's a way to get her feet wet. Soon she will begin to understand how items acquired on a quest in Star Wars: Galaxies or City of Villains can be combined into things of value, for battle and for trade. Beside, she's got to have something to do sitting home while you work your day job.

Do you think you'll ever get too old for video gaming?

Absolutely, we all have to grow up sometime.

Maybe, when real life demands more of my time.

No way, video gaming will always be an entertainment option for me.

Never, I'm looking forward to pwning my grandkids.

I don't know

Anyway!
