How to Get Your Significant Other into MMOs

Page [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9]

How does your sweetheart measure up?

The Freak
OK, she's a little bit spacey. She has a style of dress all her own, maybe a few too many piercings, and once surprised you by wearing Patchouli. You got over the black nail polish months ago, you prefer her hair blue to red, and you like how she'll spend as much time sitting there stringing up those beads to make those anklets she plans to sell at the flea market as you do playing that MMO. Besides, you can't resist, she's so damn cute, your little post-punk Goth-rock girl. Ok, maybe she is a little too reminiscent of Ally Sheedy circa The Breakfast Club. And even though she's not as talented an artist as she thinks, and her taste in music is sometimes questionable, you have gotten to a point in your relationship where she can admit to you she has a thing for unicorns. She has the potential to be so much more than your sexy, eccentric girlfriend, though. If you put her talent to use with the right MMO, you'll be able to mold her into your very own living, breathing macro.

Elusive as a black cat

Try an MMO that will allow her to express her offbeat personality through the character she develops. If she's the shiny, happy type, she'll squeal with delight just during the hero creation process of City of Heroes. More likely, she'll get off on City of Heroes' punk rock little sister, City of Villains. She can suit-up in the height of sado-masochistic fashion, all leather pants, jackboots, chains and whips. Of course, a Dark Elf in Everquest II or a Troll in World of Warcraft might best suit her Goth sensibilities. Show her how to craft to appeal to the artisan in her. And, when she's ready, start focusing her on combat so she doesn't get disinterested. Setting her up as a rogue that can use disguises or a mage that can cast spells during battle should be a perfect hook.

Getting Mushy over everything
Everquest II has begun to build a reputation if not just for the satisfaction of killing orcs then also for its many romantic elements. Start the game by having her play beauty to your beast. Set her up as a sexy Dark Elf to venture along side your oafish Ogre. If she prefers something a little more dashing, you might want to play instead as a Scout, Priest, or Fighter to make a more enchanting match. Even if you didn't buy her a box of Valentine's Day chocolates you still have in-game options. Why not lead her to the some of the more romantic spots in Everquest II such as the Shores of Antonica at sunset or the Beach in the Enchanted Lands. Once there, present her with a romantic gift such as lingerie, a suit of red armor, or flowers. Anyway, virtual gifts on Valentine's Day won't cut into your checkbook, you cheap bastard.

Do you think you'll ever get too old for video gaming?

Absolutely, we all have to grow up sometime.

Maybe, when real life demands more of my time.

No way, video gaming will always be an entertainment option for me.

Never, I'm looking forward to pwning my grandkids.

I don't know

Anyway!
