Persistent Worlds' Phil White Unveils His Plans for Conquering the World with 9 Dragons

LQGaming Services:: Precisely what is Persistent Worlds Ltd's business approach, at least as you see it?

Phil White: Persistent Worlds is all about online gaming - we want to bring games to the market which are honestly different, and are all about the gameplay and the player's experience. I know you have heard this a lot from people in the past, but this was the main reason Persistent Worlds was formed. The owners are all longtime MMO players, and each game we looked at acquiring, we played at length and selected based on playability.

LQGaming Services:: Mind sharing a few details about the current shape the company is taking? Not that we're implying you're (wait for it.) square.

Phil White: We are a new company and have plans to bring a number of MMO games to market. To this extent, we have already signed two games for release this year. We have also been amazed at the number of inquiries from other companies wanting to work with us across the US and Europe, and hope to bring even bigger projects to market with them.

LQGaming Services:: Where is PWL headed right now, and what do you hope to accomplish in the coming years, besides keeping yourself in food/shelter/clothing?

Phil White: At the moment, it feels like we are heading for a nervous breakdown, so the first goal is to avoid that. Generally though, we hope that players and the industry look upon us as an honest, open and up-front company which cares about the games and our customers. As for my personal goal,
it's to have dancing girls in cages and
free beer in the office.

LQGaming Services:: Been there, done that. Our receptionist Spice say hello, and would you prefer Bud or Miller Lite, by the way. Oh, and before we forget: The specific titles you have in the pipeline would be...?

Phil White: Our initial games are going to be 9Dragons and Carpe Diem. Both are superb games offering unique gameplay and are both MMO titles. I would prefer to hold out on more information at the moment, we have some teaser information on our websites at (www.PersistentWorlds.co.uk, www.9dragonsonline.com and www.carpediemgame.com) but I know Google wants to be your friend in the meantime ;) Likewise our US co-licensee, Acclaim, website for 9Dragons can be viewed
at http://www.9dragonsgame.com.

LQGaming Services:: Only when we're searching for porn, illegally copied movies and Kelly Osborne B-sides, my friend. And you're not getting off the hook that easily. We want details, homeboy.

Phil White: 9Dragons is the first authentic martial arts MMO based on the nine clans of ancient China. Carpe Diem is a sword and sorcery fantasy game design to be played on mounts - you can even control the mount while another player controls the rider firing off spells! The game really has to be tried to understand how much fun and how cool it is.

We selected both these titles from a list of (literally) hundreds of games because of the playability and the way they do things differently. We spent days playing and had tons of fun with each game (one of the perks of the job!), hence the reason we wanted to license them.

Do you think you'll ever get too old for video gaming?

Absolutely, we all have to grow up sometime.

Maybe, when real life demands more of my time.

No way, video gaming will always be an entertainment option for me.

Never, I'm looking forward to pwning my grandkids.

I don't know

Anyway!
