Q: How do I contact a "live" person for registration help and information?
A: Please contact the GDC Registration Department at (415) 947-6135 or toll free at (888) 234-9476. The Registration Department is open Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Pacific Time, excluding holidays.

Q: I registered for GDC:06 on-line -- how do I get a receipt and confirmation?
A: If you registered and paid on-line, the final page of the registration process is your receipt and confirmation. Please make certain to make a copy of your receipt for expense purposes as well as any follow-up with the GDC Registration Department. If you printed an invoice and submitted it with your check payment, we will mail you a confirmation and receipt, once your registration is received and processed.

Online registration without payment does NOT secure the Alumni or Early registration discount. Registrations completed (paid) and checks received ON or AFTER the February 15, 2006 early discount offer has expired must be paid at the full, undiscounted pass price.

Q: Why do I have to create a unique login and password for my registration?
A: For your privacy and protection we require anyone registering online to create a unique login for access to their registration. Having a login allows you online access to your receipt, pass selection and information about your registration, as well as use of the Schedule Builder (live on the site in mid-January, 2006).

Q: What is the International Game Developers Association's (IGDA) member discount for GDC:06 registration?
A: IGDA members can receive a $50 discount on the price of their pass when they register. Enter your IGDA membership number in the registration field provided to receive the discount.

I have forgotten my IGDA membership number, how can I obtain it?
You can obtain your membership number by contacting the IGDA via phone at 415-738-2104 or email at info@igda.org.

Please be aware that the IGDA is not related to the GDC Registration Department.

Q: How do I register a Group?
A: To take advantage of our group discount of 10%, your group must consist of 10 or more attendees from the same company and they must be registered at the same time. Additional registrations from the same company added at a later date will not be entitled to the group discount unless they are submitted under the same terms & conditions described herewith:

Terms and conditions: The group discount of 10% is only valid off the current registration price, including early discount registrations for Classic, VIP, Giga, and Mobile Plus passes, no other passes are entitled to the 10% discount. Additional discounts, such as Alumni, Exhibitor or other special discounts are not combinable with the group discount.

To register your group, please download a registration form and complete one for each member of your group, we are unable to accept emailed or faxed lists.  Please include the registrants email address so that we can email him/her a confirmation for their records and for future Alumni discount offerings as well as full payment information. Once completed, fax your registration forms to (415) 947-6020. If you are in need of a registration form, a pdf version is available here.

Q: When do I receive my badge?
A: In early March 2006, badges will be mailed to all attendees who are confirmed as registered by February 20, 2006. Badges for those who register online after this date must be collected on-site.

Q: I registered and now need to make changes to my registration, how can I do this?
A: Cancellations, Substitutions, Downgrades & Upgrades:
If you need to cancel, you may do so for a full refund, less a $100.00 service charge until Monday, February 13, 2006. Attendees who register prior to or after the deadline date, who do not cancel in writing by the deadline date, are liable for the pass cost and will be charged for the full registration fee. Sorry, no refunds are available after this date. If you are unable to attend the conference, we strongly recommend that you send a substitution in your place as after the cancellation deadline date of 2/13/2006, no refunds will be issued. Please fax your cancellation request to (415) 947-6020, or mail your request to:

Written requests for a downgraded pass must be received no later than February 13, 2006 for a full refund on the difference of registration fees between the value of the original and downgraded pass. Sorry, requests received after February 13, 2006 cannot be accommodated. Upgrade pass requests must be submitted in writing and faxed to (415) 947-6020 along with payment information for the difference in value.

Substitutions are allowed only with the written permission of the original registrant. Please mail your substitution request to the above address, or fax to (415) 947-6020.

Q: What are the 5 classes included with the Expo pass?
A: The 5 sessions included in the Expo pass will be announced in early 2006. Please check back then for more information.

Q: How do I register for the Microsoft sponsored tutorial?
A: The Microsoft tutorial is just like any other tutorial - there is no separate registration for it. It requires either a Giga, VIP or Tutorials-only pass. Just click on the "Registration Now " link on this site, proceed through the registration process, and when you are prompted for the type of pass you want, select the Giga, VIP or Tutorials-only pass. There will be a drop-down list for you to select which tutorials you want to attend, and the Microsoft tutorial can be selected from it.

Other Questions

Q: Can I bring my child to the GDC?
A: There will not be any on-site child care services at the GDC. And due to safety concerns, no one under the age of 18 (including infants in strollers) will be permitted on the show floor at any time during the Game Developers Conference.

Q: Is there a location in the convention center where I can nurse in a private room?
A: Nursing mothers may find privacy in the nurse's office on the 1st floor, located to the left of registration, behind the security desk.

Q: Why can't I see the registration page on this site?
A: The registration portion of this site serves encrypted pages, and will not display on browsers with security settings set too low. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced, scroll to the bottom of the list, and make sure SSL 2.0 or 3.0 is enabled. In Netscape/Mozilla, go to Communicator>Tools>Security Info>Navigator, and make sure SSL 2.0 or 3.0 is enabled.

Q: Americans with Disabilities Act - How can I request assistance?
A:
If you require special assistance, auxiliary aids, interpreters or other reasonable accommodations while at the conference and/or expo, please contact Laurie Fellezs at the CMP Game Group, producers of the 2006 GDC at (415) 947-6681 at least two weeks prior to the event date.

Q: How do I access the Internet at the GDC?
A: Wireless Access
is available on the concourse of the convention center. Feel free to access the Internet through your wireless device during show hours Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
There is no technical support for the Wireless Access. If you are unfamiliar with configuring wireless access or for any reason cannot connect using these settings, you can instead use the computers already configured to access the Internet in the Nintendo Interactive Lounge location"to be determined".

Q:Where can I access GDC Proceedings (also known as "Speaker Presentations" prior to GDC 2004?

Speaking At The GDC

Q: I would like to speak at the conference. How do I submit a proposal?
A:
The Call for Submissions for GDC:06, GDC Mobile, and Serious Games Summit have closed. The 2007 GDC Call for Papers will be made available in the Summer of 2006.

Q: Are there specific subjects that I should submit speaking proposals for?
A:
Yes. The Call for Papers submission form has an extensive list of topics that the GDC would like to cover. Submissions that fulfill this wish list have a better chance of getting accepted. The online submission form will be live when the 2007 Call for Submissions is posted in the Summer of 2006.

Q: When do I find out whether my speaking proposal for the 2006 conference was accepted?
A:
Acceptance notifications for the main GDC:06 were distributed in October 2005. Notifications for GDC Mobile will be distributed in mid-November 2005. Notifications for Serious Games Summit at GDC will be distributed in December 2005.
