Aiming High
Codemasters' MMO VP David Solari aims high with Archlord
LQGaming Services:: Tell us about Chantra - the online world of Archlord. Give us some details of the story circulating in the online world.
David Solari: There are three races in Chantra. There is the humans, the orcs and the elves. One of the cool things you can do is form guilds with a person from each race [as opposed to the division in some games such as Horde V. Alliances in World of Warcraft]. That way there's no total hatred or animosity between the races or factions. They are live in the world together and can join together as needed.
LQGaming Services:: We heard the music for the game was going to be performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. Is this true?
David Solari: Yea, it's going to be a really cool feature actually. And it's a really big part of production for the game that we'll be releasing more details for down the road.
LQGaming Services:: Will there be a formal beta test? If so, how will players be able to take part?
David Solari: Yes, absolutely there will be a beta test and there will be [public] invites
LQGaming Services:: What is the current estimated time for release?
David Solari: We're looking for sometime after summer. Either really late summer or early fall.
LQGaming Services:: What type of monthly fee are players looking paying for a month of gametime?
David Solari: We haven't nailed down the actual figure -- or even if we'll charge one at all.
LQGaming Services:: What type of computer will be needed to run Archlord at optimal performance?
David Solari: I can't give you exact specs yet, but typically in Korea [where the game is being coded] they build their games so they can run on a wide range of computers. It'll be a fairly modest set of specs, but I will say when you have a hot machine and turn [the detail] levels up the game will look absolutely stunning.
