The Lore behind the strange explosion of Luclin is shrouded in mystery and shadow. 10 to 15 years before the time set in EverQuest 2, the moon of Luclin exploded, causing rocks to rain down on the face of Norrath. Cultures were destroyed and tribes and families were separated.
Races of all kinds went for refuge, with only a small few surviving, but it was enough. Eventually the good of heart gathered together with the leadership of the newly arriving Queen of Qeynos, and they rebuilt the city to what you see now in EverQuest 2. Freeport was hardly demolished, and those who hunger for personal gain and power grouped together to form the forces that now reside within Freeport's walls.
Just how the moon of Luclin exploded and by who's hands, it is yet to be seen.
Maybe someone was mad that they didn't find cheese there, or were allergic to cats. who knows?
