Creating Site Buttons And Their Associated Links

One of the most common elements you'll want to adjust in your guild site is your button links. These are the key tools you will provide to your guild members and the public for accessing critical parts of your site. So, how do we set them up the way you want them?!

The following walkthroughs explains how to setup buttons and more.

Creating an image button link:

1) Click on your "Admin Pages" menu link
2) Select the "Control Editor" (this is where you create the button to be placed on your site)
3) Select in the "Control Type" drop down menu, "Image Button"
4) Enter in the "Control ID", which is simply the name of the button for reference purposes
5) Choose the address designation, or target to where the button link will go. You can click on the icon drop down menu for pre-defined pages, such as the roster, application, forums, news, and other pages. Or, if you wish to link to an outside source, simply type in the full website link in the box.
6) The "Open Link" option is simply if you wish the link to direct to the same browser window or open a completely new window.

7) Choosing an image is the next step. You have two choices here. You can choose to use the button generator we provide, which will allow you to select text, a background image, and set it up autoatmically. Or, if you want a completely customized button you can upload your own.

8a) If you chose to generate a button, when you are finished select "Generate Button". A preview will be created. If you are satisifed with the preview, click "Save".
8b) If you chose to upload your own button, when you are finished select "Save".

9) You will see the control added to the "Existing Controls" list below the menu you were working with. You can edit the control further, or follow the next section to actually place the Image Button Link on your site.

Placing the control (Image button link, image button, etc.):

3) There are three primary panels: left, center, right. This is a standard design on many sites around the internet.
4) Choose the one you wish to place the button of your choice in.
5) Select the button in the "Available Controls" list (remember we named them via the "Control ID" tag?)
6) Voila, its added! Refresh your main site page and it should be displayed. You can order the buttons using the up/down areas in the Layout Manager.

Horizontal site button links:

If you create a Button (Image Button or Text Link), and you put it in the header panel, it will default to display the buttons to be one on top of each other. To allow them to be displayed horizontally, you must change their Display setting in the Style Editor:

1) Create your button(s) in the Control Editor
2) Go to the Style Editor and select the Button
3) Find the Display property and set it to "Inline"
4) Click Save to save the settings
5) Repeat for each buttton thats going in the Header Panel
6) Go to the Layout Editor and add your buttons to the Header Panel.
