Forum Access



Introduction:

Creating users is one step of building your guild site. Adding them to your forums is yet another. Many guild leaders have found this to be a tricky process, and thus the reason for this walkthrough. We want to clarify how the current system works so you don't have to redo any of your site down the road.

The first and most important thing to remember is that your guild members need to be added to the forums AFTER they are added to the roster! While they can be added to the forums through the forum registration system, they can not later be added to the roster. Make sure they do not register themselves if you intend them to join the guild!

So, where do we get members to register? We'll assume here that you are taking members from your existing roster and wish to just add them to the forums. We also will assume you know how to get to your Admin Pages menu and enter the "Forum Manager" link for this walkthrough. Identifying the forum administration categories:

Manage Categories: Add/Edit a new category to your forums for individual forums to be placed under.

Manage Forums: Add/Edit forums that are placed within a category

Initialize Accounts: Allows general member access to the forums for selected members (your key to forum access!)

Change Forum Icons: Tired of the generic icons when your site is all beautified elsewhere? This is the place to change them.

Manage Threads: Edit threads in a forum (moderator use)

Registered Users: Displays users that are registered only to the forums (visitors, alliance members, etc.)

Give Access To Forums: Gives specific access privilege to specific forums (moderators, admins, etc.)

Manage Moderators: Add/Edit moderators

Remove Access To Forums: Removes specific access to members in a forum (all but one member... etc.)

Manage Banned Users: Getting tired of someone spamming? Ban them and manage their account here.

Admin/Officer Actions: A log detailing who did what to the forums.



Steps to adding members to the forums from the roster:

1) Click on the "Initialize Accounts" link
2) A list of members on the roster will appear. Read notes within page for details.
3) Click on each member you wish to add to the roster
4) Click the "Insert" button at the top of the list
5) Voila! They are now added to your forums and can now become moderators, admins, etc.

To remove members from the forums you will need to use the "Remove Access To Forums" link and remove them from each forum you do not wish them to access.

If a user is not in the list they either already have forum access or have been "disconnected" from the forums in an error of some sort. If they know they have access but cannot login, please e-mail us details of the problem to: guildsupport@lqgaming.com.
