Shout Box

Shout Box Installation

Caution: Please review the website code carefully, as it may break your page if you add it incomplete. There also are a few incompatibilities with certain browsers at this time. If you have suggestions for improving this walkthrough while we work to update the example, please let us know!

What is a shoutbox? It is a small window area you can place within your site that allows you to chat with your guild in a passive method. This means you aren't technically chatting live, because previous messages will stay within the box until someone adds a new message and bumps older one down the list. It's a great way to write quick messages to your guild. Example:

"Raid tonight! Be at GWG by 7pm ST"

To install your own Shout box, follow the instructions below. Be sure you have your own GuildWizard site, administrative access to it, and have some basic html knowledge. If you need assistance with this please respond in the forums via this link, or e-mail us if the link doesn't help, to: guildsupport@lqgaming.com.

Thanks to Siiri StarDance from the guild Allied Forces for providing this walkthrough!

1. Grab the program from a free ShoutBox host (ShoutMix: http://www.shoutmix.com)
2. Using the Control Editor, create a new HTML container control.
3. There will be 2 tabs at the bottom of the control content text area. Click the HTML tab.
4. Put the HTML code provided by your ShoutBox host into the text area and save.
For instance, if you use ShoutMix you will get code similar to this:

CODE - WARNING: Ensure " " surround all numerical and other data after = signs, such as "360". Image does not display this detail.

5. Place the new control on your Website, using the Control Layout Manager.
