Alpha Report #3

Gameplay

  • All professions can now use shields. Warriors can improve their ability with a shield by spending attribute points into Tactics and Strength.
  • All Weapons are now linked to an attribute. Items have a specified attribute level, the character's attribute must be equivalent or above in order to be able to deal the maximum potential damage.
  • Henchman available for certain PvE maps, they can be hired (at no cost) in the related outpost. Currently available are: Henchman Elementalists, Monks, Rangers and Elementalists. These AI characters are great for those who wish to solo, but any items assigned to the henchman are lost (they pick them up).
  • Wands and Staves now launch elemental attacks when equipped (previously, they only had statistical advantages)
  • Silenced tweaked, no longer prevents complete casting. But rather increases the amount of time it takes to successfully cast. Allows casters to still be useful once silenced, although not very effective.
  • All Elementalist lightning based skills now have 25% armor penetration.
  • The Ranger can charm animals other than the lynx, currently the Tar Strider is the other which has been implemented.
  • Ranger received a new attribute, "Expertise": Decreases the energy cost of attack skills by 4% per invested point.
  • Many new items with purely statistical purposes have been implemented (focus items).
  • Natural Hazards implemented, these cause certain negative effects upon the character while walking through them. Includes: lava (fire damage), swamps (poison) and tar?
  • Crafted Armor have had their statistics adjusted, Warrior's no longer have a lightning vulnerability.
  • Guild vs. Guild battles can be launched from the Guild Hall.
  • The Ranger's charmed animal no longer suffers a permanent death when killed. Players can revive their animals, instead of having to search for another to tame.
  • The keyboard is now reconfigurable, as you can assign the various actions to whichever keys you wish.

Interface

  • Worldmap altered twice, it first featured a Christopher Columbus era style map (first update) and it has been recently updated again and is a 2d/3d composite. Features incredible textures and cloud effects! Note: It is amazing.
  • Map marker colors altered a bit, yellow: town, red: pvp area, grey: quest map.
  • The skill tab has been completely revamped with quite a bit of new skill information in the process, including: Cooldown Time, Casting Time and Adrenaline Charging. It is also quite easy to differentiate Elite skills from the rest as their row has a goldish background.
  • Many new profession hairstyles/options have been added.
  • The skill icons within the skill tab have been reduced in size.
  • Background image added to all tabs found the 'extra' menu (ie, Guilds, Friends, Options, Messages).
  • Guild History implemented, it shows who invited recently added Guild members.
  • New skill icons added
  • New Item icons have been added (very impressive too!)
  • Advanced Options added to the graphics sub-section in the options menu. (Terrain, Textures, Reflections and Shadow quality)
  • Loading bar is now blue and white.
Areas
  • Guild Hall look has been reworked, looks quite oriental.
  • Guild vs. Guild battle maps have been altered a bit, now features more expansive fortifications and a neat water fountain outside the gates.
  • The ascalon defender vs. assaulter map has been renamed as 'Gladiator Arena'.
  • The Arena has been renamed to "Team Arena".
