Common Sense Perspective - IWAY

Ever heard of a Barrage build? How about a Fear Me build? No? Hmm, have you heard of IWAY by any chance? Amazingly enough those three skills have one thing in common: they're exactly that. Skills. Yet strangely, I'd bet not a single person reading this answered no to the last question. "I Will Avenge You!" is such a simple skill, granting health regeneration and attack speed; yet everyone knows what it is. In fact, people even refer to themselves as "IWAY Warriors." Fancy that, an entire build that can be summarized with a single skill.

By now I'm sure you're wondering what my point is. I'd like to present a hypothesis. That is, quite simply, that you could take almost any skill that isn't pure damage and make a build out of it. To show this, we'll take my earlier examples: Barrage and Fear Me.

Barrage is an amazing Ranger elite. Though it removes all preparations, it allows you to shoot at up to 6 enemies near your target, doing increased damage. However, I've yet to see a Ranger in Tombs saying "Barrage Ranger LFG." Of course, this is because Barrage has yet to become a FOTM (flavor of the month) build. It wouldn't be difficult. A few Rangers, a couple Necromancers, and some Monks. Necros throw out some Marks and Orders, Monks do their Monk thing, and the Rangers let loose barrages upon an unsuspecting enemy, who is quickly convinced that all of Hell is raining down on them.

Let's try another one. At first, "Fear Me!" doesn't seem like that good of a skill. Even with 16 tactics, all it does is cause foes to lose 4 energy. Multiply that by 8 and throw in a relatively low cost of 4 adrenaline, and you've got yourself a build. 8 warriors, or even some with warrior secondary that would only drain 3, could be draining around 30 energy per use of the skill. Say they can use it every 5 seconds, and that equates to an incredible 18 ticks of energy degeneration on every foe in the area. Not only would that almost instantly deprive every enemy in the area of all their energy, it would keep them from getting any back. Add in some damage and your now-helpless enemies would stare in awe as you quickly killed them all off.

Basically, all I'm saying is that there are a large number of skills out there that can create just as good of builds as IWAY. With a bit of inventiveness you can make a successful build an infinite number of ways. IWAY has been taken on somewhat because it's easy. But there are any number of other builds. To put it simply, I'm just asking for a little bit of originality. Next time you're bored and decide to go have a Tombs match, try your best not to shout out "IWAY Warrior LFG!" Instead, do something different for a change. After all, who knows you just might like it.
