Damage Output - Lesson One, Weapon Attacks
Ever wonder how much damage you do with that stick that you keep swinging around, or that fancy little spell you spam?
Well, stop wondering and start knowing. You may have seen the damage equations spinning around the net with all this mumbo jumbo math talk, but Im here to give you what you want: No math, just you hitting someone and them getting hurt.
Quick Notes
This will be a two-part release, and this thread will cover weapon damage. Spell damage will be discussed in the next thread.
The equation used to find the results for sword/hammer/axe/bow is: D = B*1.2*2^([5*attr-AL]/40)
D = Actual damage dealt
B = Base Damage
Attr = Attribute Level
AL = Armor Level (-20 for critical hits)
For wand/staff: D = B*1.2*2^([60 - AL]/40)
D = Actual damage dealt
B = Base Damage
AL = Armor Level (-20 for critical hits)
The results below are for customized weapons. To figure out the damage for uncustomized weapons use this for sword/hammer/axe/bow: D = B*2^([5*attr-AL]/40)
and this for wand/staff: D = B*2^([60 - AL]/40))
For skills that add damage to attacks, just add the stated damage to the numbers below. All weapons are max damage and req. 8. The examples below are of two level 20 opponents. Listed are the three major attribute point levels: 8, 12, and 16 with AL increments of 20. Wands/Staves are not affected by attribute level.
Critical Hits
Critical hits are hits that gain a bonus on top of the maximum damage. It is estimated that 1 in 7 hits will land critical, and this increases based on area of attack (i.e. chance for critical hit is increased when attacking enemy from behind). Actual chance of landing is undetermined at this time as there are other factors that are unknown that also affect hit percentage, but the damage when landing a critical hit is verified.
