How I See It - Monks and Teamwork

We can all see that Monks are relied on to keep the whole team alive through every mission, every quest, and every PVP battle. Thus, the Monk must be the ultimate profession, right? Perhaps this is not the case. Each person with a different profession has at least one skill to take care of himself with. And there are simple things that each profession could be doing to help out their team. However, it is well known that no team should leave for any quest or mission without a Monk.

Monks can fight just as well as the rest of them, and they can also heal the party, keeping them alive. Many times, the best Monks are those that heal more than they fight. Then the Monk's main focus is on keeping everyone healed and safe. In this way, it is no longer a multitasking job to fight and heal; they will do a much better job with their healing. Sometimes it is even necessary to have two monks, using one as a backup. Some people probably don't realize how much they truly count on Monks. Not to mention the Monk of the group can say that if it weren't for him, they would not have won at all. That is how important they are.

Relying on the Monk to take care of you is not always how it must be. Each profession has some skills they can use to keep themselves safe, at least for a part. However, most people seem to prefer the Monk taking care of them. This is fine, since Monks are healers anyway. But each person should always carry a form of healing, or escaping, for when the Monk may not be available.

It is all fine and dandy, except when there are those Monks that created their Monk for the sole purpose of healing himself. Yes there are those kinds of Monks. In that case, it makes no sense to me why they would even make one. All professions have the skills to keep themselves safe when in need. Monks should be the very best at team working. A Monk should not be only worrying about healing himself. They need to constantly be worrying about everyone's health, and sticking close to the party, while keeping as far away from the enemies as possible.

The whole team needs to be aware that they are indeed, a team, and that the leader ought to be the main planner, while they all stick together. If anyone else in the team knows something that the leader doesn't, then they should simply speak up. They should not run off in their own direction, believing that they have it all down on their own. What good does that do? Then the team dies, and then even the Monk will die on his own. Anyone will die easily if they leave the team for their own 15 minutes of fame. They rarely get any fame out of it at all. Instead they usually get embarrassment. And when they die being out on their own, it is vice versa: for when the Monk dies, the team dies. It is not always the monk that runs off on his own, of course - but it is the worst person to do so.

Simple enough, the key to winning any battle, or passing any mission is teamwork. It never works correctly when there are people leaving on their own, or not doing their part as the profession they have chosen. The different professions work well together. They all can help in their various ways, and they should realize whatever it is that they could be doing to help the rest of the team out at the moment. If you have a team that works well together in this way, you will have a much better chance of accomplishing whatever it is to be done.
