Objective:
In this mission, your objective is to safeguard Prince Rurik and free the captives.
Pro Hints and Tips:
You will be facing Charr and Devourer's in this mission. The hints and tips from the previous mission will apply to this one as well. You will run into some Charr Chaot's that will use Shatter Enchantment and Energy Burn against you. These skills can be very annoying for casters, and especially for a Monk healer that is using a lot of enchantment spells. The Devourer's have the ability to interrupt your actions, and to evade your physical attacks. This is also a slight annoyance, but it can be dealt with by simply switching to another target, or moving around such that the Devourer is not attacking you, which allows you to get your spells off. You will also want to be cautious around corpses since they also use Putrid Explosion, which will poison and damage anyone in an area around the corpse. The only other good tip for this mission is getting the mages onto the obelisks so that they can help you kill the invading army as Prince Rurik opens the gate.
The henchmen here are at level 6. They can be useful, so please don't hesitate to bring them along. I always suggest that you try to get a party of real players to enjoy in the diversity of play and skills that people use, but if all else fails, the henchmen can be used to complete this task.
The trick for getting the Bonus for this mission is patience. There really isn't much else to it. As long as everyone in the party knows to let the Ember Bearer's go by, you should be fine.
Walkthrough:
- Prince Rurik must stay alive for this mission, and since he is an NPC (Non-Player Character), henchmen healers will place him on the top of their priority list. If you have a real healer, make certain they know to watch Rurik's health closely.
- Rurik will start to run down a path, but he should stop before he aggros any groups. Your job is to escort him down this path so that he can free the captive people.
- There will be a lot of "pop-up" groups, or groups that will only appear when you cross into their path. It is wise to only take on one group at a time, and to move own the path slowly so that you don't agro more than one group.
- The first boss you will face is at the top of a set of stairs pictured here.
- Continue along the path until you find the first group of captives to set free. You can hold down "Alt" to help you find them, as this will show any Levers, Structures, NPCs, or Drops in the area.
- You will encounter a boss at every group of captives, and there are 4 groups of captives total.
- The last group will have an NPC in it named Erol. There will be a cinematic, and then Erol will join you.
- Take Rurik and Erol to the Bridge before proceeding to get the Bonus.
- The start of the bonus is just through the Tar to the East of the Bridge. There will be a boss there and an NPC to talk to named Breena Stavinson.
- When you are finished talking with him, a group of four Ember Bearer's will emerge. It is imperative that you DO NOT attack them until they have opened the door leading to the Flame Keepers.
- Once they have opened the door, you may kill them and proceed to the small temple where you will face four Flame Keepers.
- You will then continue to where the Historical Monument is for the Cities of Ascalon quest.
- Follow the path until you've reached the Lever that drops the Bridge.
- Continue down the path with Rurik and Erol. There will be some Mages trapped behind a door. Defeat the boss here and free them so that they can assist you in defeating the remaining Charr army.
- Stay near the center of the Obelisks and assist the Mages as the groups of foes advance on you.
- The mission ends with a cinematic and takes you to the Nolani Academy.

Bonus:
The Bonus here only requires that your party shows a little patience in waiting for the Ember Bearer's to pass and subsequently open the gate that leads to the Flame Keepers. They will use the skill Firestorm against you, so it would be wise to step outside of its range when they cast it.
