Rank
Welcome to the wonderful world of the Hall of Heroes (HoH). If you are new to the Hall or just need a refresher course then this guide is for you. The Hall of Heroes is the fastest and most challenging player versus player form of combat in Guild Wars. Your only objective here is to kill the other team unless otherwise directed. You start out in Hero's Accent where you form a party to try to get to the Hall of Heroes. There are many people shouting for certain types of people by rank and by profession but we will talk about this later.
Types of groups in HoH
There are a few very popular groups for winning halls. These groups include:
- Ranger Spike
- Balanced
- Blood Spike
- Henchway
- IWAY
The most commonly used group is IWAY because any newbie can play an IWAY character. If played effectively, IWAY can be quite good. That is beside the point. For beginners I suggest going with your guild in a balanced group. That way you know the people you are playing with and you are more comfortable. I suggest playing the class you are comfortable with as long as it fits the group's needs.
HoH Objectives
Hall of Heroes has a few objectives to it depending on which map you're playing on. Some maps you just need to kill the other party. Other maps demand you to kill the enemy priest. There are games that are sort of like capture the flag and king of the hill also. There are a total of 9 maps to get to HoH if you don't skip maps (which happens frequently).
Keys to winning HoH
If you want to win Halls then I suggest you read carefully. There are a few things I can not stress enough.
Voice Communication
This plays the most important role in HoH. Communication among players can turn the tide in battle by not only helping Monks heal effectively but it also helps coordinate the team, call targets, and keep people out of trouble. Any decent group has a voice communication server. It is always handy to have both "Vent" (Ventrillo) and "TS" (Team speak) programs on your computer. That way you can join up with any group that uses vent or TS because you have both.
Going in with a plan
It is very wise to go in with a plan. Make sure everyone knows what they are doing and their roles in the battle. Once you have your roles down to a fine art and you work well with your other team mates then you can bring in more victories than just the one or two at the start. Just remember don't give up and never rage quit. It shows you as a bad sport and the others look shamefully on it.
Rank
Rank is very important when it comes to HoH. Rank 3 usually means you're a HoH veteran because you have earned 180 fame. For every odd rank from 3 and up you get a new emote.
Rank 3, 180 fame: Deer
Rank 6: Wolf
Rank 9: Tiger
Rank 12: Phoenix
The higher the rank the better the player. Rank 9+ teams are the ones that dominate with IWAY in almost no time flat, leaving you utterly disheartedened (I had the feeling). Don't give up. Just keep trying and playing and you will prevail and make friends.
What ever you decide to do in Halls do it in style and just ignore the noob flaming. Have fun in all you HoH adventures and I will see you there
