Yes gold is very useful, it can be used to buy various items and skills. It is also relatively hard to come by and has more value than most MMORPGs.

| You use gold to buy items. If you have a castle you can buy hirlings to help defend castle. | |||

| Guild wars is a very Item Driven game so gold has a very low value other than that of usign ti as a currency you see people selling rare Items only to have them use that money to buy other more useful rare Items so yes gold is useful if only for it use | |||

| Id hafta agree with Athos like starwars galaxys Guild wars has more to do with bartering than buying. but to tell ya thats kinda like asking if getting levels is useful. | |||
