| Description: | History It was in the winter of the year of 1636 T.A. That the Brotherhood of Rohan was forged. In this year a great plague ravaged Middle-Earth. During this plague a small band of horsemen joined forces. They had forged because of the Battle of the Plains. In this war Rohan(then called just the Northmen) was in a weakened state, because of the initial attacks, which were aimed on them. Within the next year many of the Nortmen had scattered across the nearby lands to escape the ravaged land. Some of which scattered to Dale under Erebor, whom were their kin. Others fled to Gondor, but the rest mainly stayed settled in the Vales of Anduin, between the Carrock and the Gladden fields. At that time a leader arose, Marhwini son of Marhari. They, along with some others fugitives who come through the forest, were the beginning of the people who came to be known as the Eotheod. It was near this time that the Battle of the Plains was over. The Brotherhood, however, during this time, did not flee from their home in Rohan. Though there was not much of a place they could call home they decided to flee towards what is now known as the Gap of Rohan. They stayed settled here until the attacks of the Wainriders. Then after a long while after the war, the Eotheod had not been clearly recognized by the men of Gondor. But around this same time the wainriders of the north were attacking the men of Calenardhon(now known as Rohan). These men however wished to revolt, though they had not much power. The Marhwini sent messages to King Calimehtar of Gondor, and they together formed an attack. During this planned revolt, the Brotherhood was quickly gaining members and joining in on the revolt. Its leader was stong and was called by the name of Geomyr. During his leadership he lead the Brotherhood into battle, but sadly he did not reach the end. He was slain by wainrider captain. Then Owumyr followed as the Leader of the Brotherhood in the memory of Geomyr. By the time the revolts were over the Gondorians really did not really realize what help the Eotheod gave to the them, though the Gondorians were supposed to help the Eotheod, the Eotheods had really won the battle. But at this time since the battle had been won, the Eotheod had became known as a distinct people. The Eotheod continued their alliance with Gondor by providing information and assistance if needed. It was during this time that the Brotherhood had slowly again grown. In the year 2510 T.A, Eorl was the Lord of the Eotheod. During this time Gondor was threatened by wild men from the North-east who had come out of the Brown Lands and had crossed the Anduin on rafts, and Orcs who had descended from the mountains. The enemy overran Calenardhon, and Cirion, who was the steward of Gondor, sent for help from the Eotheod. Cirion sent six of his bravest men to deliver his message to the Lord of the Eotheod, but only one of which returned alive. The one man, Borondir, had found Eorl and told him of Gondor, and he answered. He sent many men into combat, including the Brotherhood of Rohan's men, and sent the enemy fleeing from the field forever more. Within the next few years the Steward Cirion had granted all the land of Calenardhon from the Anduin to Isen. It was then renamed the kingdom of Rohan, men of the horse. Eorl became the first King of the Mark and all those who follow him keep the alliance with Gondor and bravery on the battle field. The long history of Rohan continued for more with their alliance with Gondor. Many years later the Brother hood was lead by Aretheon, whom was originally of Gondor. He made the Brotherhood a stable kinship. But about the year of 3005 T.A, Aretheon was slain by orcs and wargs while patrolling near Isengard. Then in the year of 3010 T.A. his Son, whom bears the name: Theomyr, leads the Brotherhood. During the beginning of Theomyr's reign many defied the young man and said that the kinship would fall. But the Code of Honour has forever been fullfilled and now the Brotherhood stands tall and strong. Now comes the rising of another threat and Theomyr has set out to Bree to find men of valor and honour. These are the men and women of The Brotherhood of Rohan, Brethren of the Horse. We ride now! For Gondor! For Rohan! Forth Eorlingas! |
