Naboo Bestiary

With much of it's surface covered in water, Naboo is teemed with wild life of all sizes. Because of their evolution, many of these creatures look quite silly or harmless, but you make think otherwise when they decide that you would make a good entree for their evening meal.

Falumpaset
These highly intelligent, powerful creatures roam the swamps and plains of the planet in great herds. The falumpaset is a gigantic quadruped with a distinctive bellowing call that carries for kilometers around.

Falumpasets are domesticated and used as beasts of burden by the Gungans as mounts and for towing vehicles such as boomer wagons and catapults... However, their temperament is uniformly stubborn and uncooperative.
Fambaas are giant reptillian quadrupeds standing at 5 meters tall. Their diet consists of plants, so they are obviously herbivores. Their home world is Naboo. This gigantic sauropod is even-tempered by nature, but fearsome in its appearance.

They were used by the Gungans of Naboo in the Gungan Grand Army. They have many purposes, including mobile shield generators and cargo carriers. A line of two or more shield carriing fambaa can create a shield that can be entered and exited, but not fired into.

While moving underwater, the Gungans abandoned small groups of fambaa, which eventually established their own packs.

Gungan
Gungans are a race of aquatic humanoids. The Gungans are actually two separate races: The Otolla Gungans and the Ankura Gungans. The Otolla Gungans are thin and lanky, while the Ankura Gungans are usually fat and bulky (Boss Nass is an Ankura Gungan.) Otolla Gungans make up the bulk of the population of the Gungan race, and serve in the military. Ankura Gungans usually sit on the high council.

The Gungans were the dominant species on Naboo until the humans came. The Gungans and the Naboo initially distrusted each other, but after a failed invasion by the Trade Federation, a strong alliance was formed and maintained.

For some strange reason, many adventurers instinctively fire upon Gungans on sight. Mesa don't know why... do you?
Kaadu are swift-footed scaly-skinned wingless reptavians with strong legs and smooth bodies. Like their Gungan masters, they have duck-billed snouts, colorful skin and aquatic ancestry. The Gungans long ago domesticated the kaadu. These swamp-dwelling creatures are primarily adapted for life on land, though they can breathe underwater for extended periods of time.

Narglatch
The narglatch is often a solitary hunter that silently stalks and quickly demolishes its prey. Densely padded feet aid in hunting with stealth and their large claws are superior killing tools. It generally avoids deep water, although narglacthes are good swimmers if pressed.
Over two meters long from beak to tail, the peko-peko lives in the swamp forests, where it uses its clawed wings to make its way through the dense foliage when moving around in trees. Because of its short legs, the peko-peko cannot walk as gracefully as it flies. It has a powerful beak capable of breaking small branches and cracking open the shell of the toxic jute nut, the peko-peko's favorite food.

The peko-peko's skin is toxic, and most predators leave it alone. Sentient hunters prey on the peko-peko to harvest the amazing anti-venin the animal secretes.

Peko-pekos are capable mimics, making them popular pets among the Gungans and the Naboo.

Tusk-Cat
Tusk-cats are tiger-like animals that live on Naboo and possibly other planets. They had very long sabertooth fangs, hence their name and are also called Nabooan Tusked Panthers. Fierce hunters, Tusk-cats stalk their prey in a variety of different terrains, attacking with claws and namesake tusks.

Over the years the Naboo have domesticated tusk-cats, using them as both riding animals and for herding livestock.
