18.6.13 Will your game engine utilize DirectX 9 or the newly announced DirectX 10?

At this point, the safest bet is to simply rest assured that we will support the version of DX that makes the most sense at the time... and honestly NOBODY is in a position to say what that version will be, or what features it will include. That sounds like a cheesy answer, I know, but it is the only accurate one. *grin*

DX9 was a quantum leap ahead of DX8 in terms of programmable graphics. It introduced some significant changes to the way we present a polygon to the user, and redefined what we CAN and CANNOT do in real time. It will be some time before they jump ahead by that amount again.

Hardware, btw, has yet to catch up with DX9. To date, no cards FULLY support all DX9 features (the boxes lie! the boxes lie! hehe). -Ryan Elam, Lead Programmer
