The Official Forums

'm sure a few of you have seen the World of Warcraft official forums. They are used as a soapbox to spout hatred, stupidity, and general mean-spiritedness. Occasionally there is a good post made, but these are often flamed into oblivion. The forums are rarely used for their intended purpose, either. That is why I am renaming them based on what their real use is. I'm only covering the ones that I frequent the most often. I can hear the gates of hell opening every time I get near the PvP discussion forum.

Druid: The "I'm not gonna spec restoration no matter what!" forum. All I ever see in here is talk about Moonkin or the new feral tree. It's likely that we will see a few Druids losing their guilds soon.

Rogue: The "My armor sucks" forum. Many Rogues who get MC gear seem to think it's worthless. It should be noted that these are the people that sneak up behind you and 1 shot you with an ambush crit in PvP.

Priest: The "Healing sucks" forum. Some people seem to like it, but I still see quite a few of the "they want me to spec out of shadow!" threads. Apparently being as useful as possible in a PvE raid is not something most Priests want to do.

Hunter: The "O Rly?" forum. Caydiem actually has or had it in her signature to stop it with this owl. It still shows up occasionally, spurring people to post in it with "IBTL" or "IBL", meaning 'In Before The Lock'. Don't know what it is? I dare you to go look.

Shaman: The "Nerf Shaman" forum. Shamans complain that they aren't powerful enough, while others complain that they are too powerful. Kinda funny that people actually come to the Shaman forum to ask for them to be nerfed.

Warrior: The "Itemization sucks" forum. Warriors complain about every piece of gear they get, and then they go out and take their rage out on people in PvP. Who knows, maybe Mortal Strike should kill every enemy on the map and rip the world in half when it hits.

Mage: The "Make me a spell casting Rogue" forum. It's all about invisibility now. Everyone wants it, except for those of us that aren't mages. If anyone remembers the beta Invis+Pyro combo, they will know why most of us don't want it to come back.

Paladin: The "I'm a buffbot" forum. Paladins do really only have a few uses in MC, and that is cleansing, out of combat rezzing, and throwing BoK on everything that moves. Apparently they also want to be the main tank and a damage dealer, too.

Warlock: The "I can't kill everything with 1 skill anymore" forum. If you all haven't seen it before, Warlocks have the highest damage output in the game. Now they are on par with other damage dealer classes, and they just can't take it.

Realm: The "Generalized hatred" forums. This is where you can hate everyone on your realm and tell them how crappy they play. This is also a very common spot for people to put up their reports of ninja looters, which tend to get ignored and deleted.

Off Topic: The "Anything under the sun" forum. This is often full of idiots arguing over who knows more about nothing. Luckily, these people do tend to stay in this forum, so their filth rarely spreads.

General Discussion: The "Off topic 2" forum. This is the most common place for internet fads to end up. It is also used to harass staff and be a general nuisance. This is where a lot of the moderators get ideas for their signatures from, as well.


Those are just the forums I visit. I'm sure if I looked in others on any regular basis, I would see a lot more stupidity. There is just something about anonymity that makes people act like assholes. I should know, it's what got me a job.
